Bela Shah, organizer of the Wellness and Healing day at BloomBars, where I organized a “Poetry of Public Art” workshop, was moved by the colors of this peacock from the beautiful street mural in India. I call this “Confessions of a Peacock”
Confessions of a Peacock by Bela Shah
I feel as if the colors inside me were just waiting to explode like bottles of rainbow colored paint.
The feathers of the royal blue peacock flapping in the breeze of fresh perspective.
His eyes seeing me for the first time, just as I see myself as a whole new person.
My heart beats in rhythm with the blinking traffic lights and tapping footsteps against the worn sidewalk streets
I notice for the first time in a long time, the oxygen that is fueling my life
And see, for the first time in a long time, the resilient trees standing in the midst of city chaos
I can feel the velvety softness of your existence colorful peacock
Just as I can feel the tenderness of my vulnerability, sensitive to the touch
